Streaming platform Peacock has ordered a TV series based on the popular “Fast & Furious” franchise. Work on the project has been underway since the beginning of the year. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2028, around the same time as the release of “Fast Forever.” Variety reports.
The new project will be executive produced by Vin Diesel, Sam Vincent, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirshenbaum and Chris Morgan. Mike Daniels and Wolf Coleman will write the first episode and also serve as showrunners.
Vin Diesel first announced the series in May. According to the actor, fans have long wanted to see new stories featuring familiar “Fast & Furious” characters in a television format. The creators, meanwhile, had been waiting for the right moment to bring the franchise to a new format.
This is not the first television project set in the “Fast & Furious” universe. From 2019 to 2021, Netflix released the animated series “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers.” The show ran for six seasons.
However, the new project, scheduled to premiere in 2028, will be the first live-action TV series set in the “Fast & Furious” universe.
