The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the country's Deputy Prosecutor General Begench Gurbangulyev is taking part in the 32nd session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), which is taking place in Vienna.
Speaking from the rostrum, the head of the Turkmen delegation noted the positive role of the country in promoting international and regional cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime.
The theme of this year's regular session of the CCPCJ is "Improving the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in order to ensure access to justice and build a safe and secure society." The session will continue its work until May 26.
Particular emphasis during the meeting was placed on Goal 16 - Promoting a peaceful and open society for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable and participatory institutions at all levels.
The CCPCJ is the UN's main decision-making body in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. It offers a platform for States to share knowledge and experience in order to develop national and international strategies and set priorities in the fight against crime.
