Turkmenistan takes part in an event to expand the Trans-Caspian trade route, which is taking place in Tbilisi (Georgia).
The Turkmen delegation included representatives of the Transport and Logistics Center of the country, the International Seaport in Turkmenbashi, Demirellari OJSC.
The event is organized by the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the US Department of Commerce as part of the regional project to expand the Trans-Caspian Trade Route (TCTR).
Within two days, the participants will discuss the recommendations of the first meeting of the project, which took place in March 2023, and get acquainted with the map of the main trade routes. The delegates will also listen to the initiatives of international organizations to promote the development of the Trans-Caspian trade route.
The TCTR project contributes to the achievement of the objectives of the C5+1 Diplomatic Platform to promote economic connectivity in the region. Its goal is to develop recommendations for the best scenarios for trade routes among the participating private sector representatives from the countries of Central Asia, as well as Georgia and Azerbaijan; ensure the harmonization of customs and border crossing procedures, promote dialogue among stakeholders and facilitate the exchange of ideas on a coherent regional approach to expanding the Trans-Caspian trade route.
On March 5-7, 2023, the first meeting on the Trans-Caspian trade route was held in Batumi (Georgia). Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the opportunities of the private sector for efficient scenarios of multimodal trade routes. As a result of the discussions, the participants
developed and adopted 14 recommendations.
