The meeting of the working group on updating the Concept of cooperation between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of public health protection was held on May 25 at the CIS headquarters. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Commonwealth Executive Committee took part in its work. This was reported on the website of the CIS Executive Committee.
The document of cooperation in the field of public health protection was approved by the heads of government of the Commonwealth countries in 2003. It defines the main principles, goals, objectives and directions of interaction between the CIS member states in solving the problems of public health protection.
It was noted that since the adoption of the Concept, structural changes have taken place in healthcare systems in the Commonwealth states - some countries practice a mixed healthcare model, in a number of countries a system of compulsory medical insurance has been introduced, the economic independence of medical institutions has been expanded, and a market for medical services has been formed.
Also today, the digitalization of health care and a personalized approach are actively developing, modern forms of remote counseling and telemedicine are being used, special emphasis is placed on interaction in the fight against and prevention of non-communicable and other types of diseases.
The participants of the meeting noted that in order to maintain sanitary and epidemiological well-being, work is actively developing to control especially dangerous infectious diseases and emphasis is placed on the training of doctors for specialized anti-epidemic teams.
