Former U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with CBS News that the country may soon resume nuclear testing.

According to Trump, other major powers are already conducting such tests, and the United States “cannot just sit idly by.”

“Russia is testing, China is testing, North Korea conducts tests all the time. Pakistan does too. We are an open society, and we hide nothing. We have enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world 150 times,” Trump said.

He emphasized that the U.S. remains the global leader in nuclear capabilities, followed by Russia and China — though Beijing, he warned, might soon catch up.

Experts have described Trump’s remarks as a concerning signal for global security, warning that his statement could reignite a new round of nuclear arms competition.
