Fox News reports that former US President Donald Trump is ready to temporarily replace Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy after his dismissal.

According to Trump, his "friends in Congress" asked him to act as a "unifier".

"They asked me to lead the (Republican) party for a short period of time until they decide on a candidate. "I will do it not because I want to, but if necessary, if they cannot come to a final decision," said the former president.

According to Fox News, after McCarthy's resignation, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jaime Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise filed for the vacancy. Trump has indicated that he is willing to take over as speaker for a short "term of 30, 60 or 90 days" if Republicans cannot reach a consensus.

On October 3, the US House of Representatives voted to remove McCarthy as Speaker. All congressmen from the Democratic party - 208 people, eight from the Republicans supported his resignation.

McCarthy's Republican critics have mainly criticized his stance on fiscal issues. In particular, he helped the US government to prevent government employees from going without pay with his "clean" budget project (except for aid to Ukraine). The project was adopted with the support of Democrats and will be valid until mid-November.
