Trump and Syrian President Meet

Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara'a met in Washington on November 10. The parties discussed the issues of easing sanctions, cooperation against terrorism and the economic recovery of Syria.
The United States will suspend some sanctions for 6 months, and Syria will join the international coalition against "ISIS".
During the meeting, Trump gave Ahmed al-Shara'a a perfume. He said that the second perfume was for his wife and jokingly asked Ahmed al-Shara'a, "How many wives do you have?" The president replied, "One."
Trump called the Syrian leader a "strong leader." Trump believes that al-Shara'a can turn Syria into a "very successful" country. In addition, Trump said that he had always liked and supported Ahmed al-Shara.

Ahmed al-Shara became the first head of state to be received at the White House by a US president since Syria gained independence.
