As part of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to France, Deputy Mayor of Tashkent Sharof Rahmonov and French Minister-Delegate for Foreign Trade and Citizens Abroad Laurent Saint-Martin signed a roadmap for the implementation of the Tashkent tram system.
The tram lines in Tashkent are planned to be built by the French engineering company Alstom.
On May 2, 2016, tram traffic was suspended, putting an end to the 115-year history of the tram.
