Tokayev to attend BRICS summit

ASTANA, August 23 - Sputnik. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will take part in the BRICS summit, Akorda's press service reports.

"On August 24, 2023, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will take part via videoconference in the meeting of the Dialogue of Heads of State in the BRICS Plus format, which will be held as part of the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg," the report says.

At the invitation of the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the head of Kazakhstan will speak at the meeting as the current chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry stated that Kazakhstan is interested in close cooperation with the BRICS countries.
