Tokayev says the phrase “He has seen Tashkent” in Kazakhstan is used to describe educated and literate people

During the joint briefing for the media by the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the relations between the two countries, emphasizing that Uzbekistan holds a special place for Kazakhstan. He expressed deep respect for the rich culture and traditions of the Uzbek people. Tokayev noted that the two nations are not rivals but strategic partners and reliable allies, and he highly praised President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s contribution to the country’s development.

He also mentioned that the phrase “He has seen Tashkent” exists in the Kazakh language and explained that it is used to describe educated and well-mannered individuals.

“In the 1930s and 40s, many of our intellectuals studied in Tashkent. Mukhtar Auezov and other prominent scholars received their education here. Since then, the phrase ‘He has seen Tashkent’ has existed in the Kazakh language,” Tokayev said.
