Tokayev awarded citizens who saved people in a fire in Almaty Akkent

Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Dosayev presented state awards on behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to citizens who saved people during a fire in the Akkent microdistrict.

By the decree of the head of state, for bravery and dedication shown in an extreme situation, the medal "Erligi Ush" was awarded:

Tleuzhan Akhmetkhanov, Manager of Expo Masters LLP;

Gunay Shyukry, electrician of Spark Electromechanik LLP;

Eldar Ismailov, electrician of Spark Electromechanic LLP;

Yerdelen Khalil, crane operator of Gask Construction LLP;

Kenan Mammadov, electrician of Spark Electromechanic LLP;

Vadim Romanov, crane operator of IP "Frank-Asia".

"This tragic incident has demonstrated how caring, responsive and willing to risk themselves for others are our people. In your person, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who did not pass by on that terrible day, but rushed to help the firefighters," Dosayev said.

The Mayor also separately thanked the firefighters who professionally and promptly eliminated the fire.

On August 1, a fire broke out in a residential building in the Akkent microdistrict in Almaty. Rescuers evacuated hundreds of people, some residents jumped out of balconies and threw out children, they were caught with mattresses and carpets by eyewitnesses.

According to the Almaty Public Health Department, a total of 49 people were injured during the fire, of which two women and a child with injuries of varying severity were in intensive care units. One woman died from her injuries.
