According to Forbes, the net worth of Canadian filmmaker James Cameron has surpassed $1 billion, largely due to the massive box-office success of films such as Titanic and Avatar.

Since the 1980s, Cameron’s movies have earned nearly $9 billion, and his share of those revenues makes up the majority of his personal wealth. His major projects include Avatar, Titanic, The Terminator, and Aliens.

Cameron himself denies being a billionaire. “I would like to be a billionaire. That implies certain kinds of deals, and I didn’t have those,” he said in an interview with journalist Matthew Belloni.

Moreover, Cameron is expected to become even wealthier in the coming months. According to Forbes estimates, he will earn at least $200 million before taxes and fees from the film Avatar: Fire and Ash.
