Thousands search for 8-year-old Khizr after drowning friend
Khizr Derbichev, 8, went missing in the Russian Republic of Ingushetia on June 15. It turned out that he jumped into the river to help his friend Adam, who was drowning.
Adam managed to hold on to tree roots, but Khizr was swept away by the strong current. A third child at the scene ran to call for help. Adam was later rescued, but Khizr could not be found.
The search is now in its fifth day, involving thousands of volunteers and rescuers across the North Caucasus.
Heavy rains have complicated the search, with rising water levels and faster currents. However, the search for Khizr is ongoing.
