Those who do not know the Kazakh language are not granted citizenship

The President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, approved changes to the laws on population migration and the criminal justice system.

According to the law, those who do not know the Kazakh language at the elementary level are not granted the citizenship of Kazakhstan.

Also, the approved law includes crimes against the sexual integrity of minors, lack of knowledge of the fundamentals of the Constitution and the history of Kazakhstan, as determined by the competent body in the field of science and higher education. The law is aimed at further improving the legislation on population migration and the criminal justice system.
