The world's first disabled woman flew into space

German engineer Mikaela Benthaus has become the first person with a disability to go into space. Despite being paralyzed from the waist down, she completed an 11-minute suborbital flight aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard spacecraft.
Benthaus, 33, has been confined to a wheelchair since a 2018 accident. "You should never give up on your dreams," she said after the flight.
The flight was Blue Origin's 16th manned mission. According to Deutsche Welle, the company has sent about 80 people on short space flights in recent years.
