Senior representatives of the US Treasury Department will pay visits to a number of European countries in the coming two weeks, including Switzerland and Austria, as well as to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the framework of work on the suppression of ways to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

US Deputy Treasury Secretary Brian Nelson will visit Zurich, Bern, Milan, Vienna and Berlin on April 16-22. Assistant Minister of Finance Elizabeth Rosenberg will visit Astana, Almaty and Bishkek on April 23-28.

"The US Treasury Department offers a clear business solution: to remain involved in the global economy or to provide material support to the Russian war and lose access to the most important markets in the world," the press release says.

It is noted that in Central Asia, Elizabeth Rosenberg, together with officials of the US Department of Commerce, colleagues from the EU and the UK, will hold meetings with representatives of local government and business circles on compliance with sanctions and countering their circumvention in trade and related financial settlements.

Western countries after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine has imposed a number of sanctions against Russia, including the freezing of assets worth 21.5 billion euros belonging to individuals and organizations. Last October, EU leaders instructed the European Commission to prepare proposals on the use of frozen assets to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine.
