On July 12, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Report, during a telephone conversation, Anthony Blinken expressed his country's unwavering support for the negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noted the importance of a creative and compromise-based approach in the negotiation process. Emphasizing the importance of crossing through the Lachin border and customs checkpoint, he touched upon the importance of maintaining a positive momentum in the negotiations in order to achieve sustainable peace.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan is committed to the peace agenda in order to normalize relations with Armenia and, as the initiator of the peace treaty between the two countries, supports its signing. The head of state said that the continued support of Anthony Blinken and the US government in advancing the peace agenda between the two countries is highly appreciated, said that another high-level meeting with the Armenian side would be held in the coming days.

President Ilham Aliyev drew attention to the fact that, despite the normal organization of the transportation of humanitarian cargo, individual crossings and medical evacuation through the Lachin border and customs checkpoint, on June 15, the Armenian side committed an armed provocation and cases of smuggling in humanitarian transportation carried out with the escort of the International Committee of the Red Cross, stressed that an investigation is underway in this regard.
