The US is preparing for potential combat operations around the Moon

US military leadership has stated that the country's forces must be prepared for potential combat operations not only in Earth's orbit but also in the space surrounding the Moon.
General Dan Kane, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, emphasized that the military must be ready to fight, endure, and prevail in domains ranging "from the ocean floor to the space around the Moon."
Lieutenant General Gregory Ganon, commander of the US Space Force, also confirmed preparations for combat operations in space and the lunar vicinity. He noted that potential adversaries, such as China, are expanding their activities in certain areas of space.
These statements follow an announcement by US Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink that the US has deployed weapons in space for the first time. The type and capabilities of the weapon have not yet been disclosed.
