Xi Jinping is expected to come to the United States in November for the APEC summit. On the eve of this, Joe Biden met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The United States and China are working together to organize a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and the American President Joe Biden, follows from a statement published on the White House website on Friday, October 27. The meeting of the leaders of the countries should take place within the framework of the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) bloc, which will be held in San Francisco from November 11 to 17, the message says.

Biden met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Washington on October 27. He pointed out that both countries should maintain open communication channels and "take a responsible approach to competition issues in their relations." In addition, the American leader called on Beijing to work together to solve "global problems", and also expressed condolences over the death of former Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, who died the day before.

Wang Yi discussed China-US relations with Blinken and Sullivan Palestino-
The Chinese Foreign Minister arrived in the United States on October 26 for a three-day visit. Prior to meeting Biden, he met twice with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. The politicians did not make any statements following the talks, but before they began, Wang Yi pointed out that there were not only disagreements, but also common interests of the United States and China, as well as the fact that "both countries need a comprehensive dialogue."

In addition, the Chinese minister was received by the US President's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. The meeting discussed "key issues of bilateral relations between the United States and China, the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Russia's war against Ukraine" and the strained relations between Beijing and Taiwan, according to a corresponding White House press release.

Trip Wang Yi's visit to the United States was the first visit of a high-ranking Chinese politician to the United States in the last few years, the Reuters news agency notes. At the same time, in June 2023, Beijing sharply criticized Biden after he equated the Chinese leader with "dictators" in one of his statements.

Russia is also invited to the APEC Summit
The APEC Summit, on the sidelines of which Biden and Xi are expected to meet, takes place annually on the territory of one of the 21 states that make up the bloc. APEC meetings are traditionally attended by the leaders of its participating countries.

APEC also includes Russia, but Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to travel to the next summit of the bloc in Bangkok in 2022 - the country was represented at the event by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov. Following the results of this meeting, its participants condemned the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

In September, the White House indicated that although Russia will take part in the summit in San Francisco, Putin will not be invited directly to this event. Washington, among other things, explained its decision by "sanctions restrictions." Difficulties could also arise with the organization of Vladimir Putin's visit to the country due to the fact that the International Criminal Court had previously issued a warrant for his arrest - against this background, Putin has already refused a number of foreign trips in 2023, including personal participation in the BRICS summit in South Africa.
