The United States has called on all states with nuclear weapons to declare a moratorium on nuclear testing.

Moratorium calls on the announced States to support the initiative, said Bonnie Jenkins, deputy secretary of state for arms control, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly.

"We were the first to sign the full nuclear test ban treaty in September 1996. Since then, the United States has maintained a full moratorium on nuclear testing. And the United States calls on all states with nuclear weapons to declare or maintain such a moratorium,” Jenkins said. 

Earlier, the North Korean Foreign Ministry accused Washington of preparing for a nuclear war against the DPRK and atay sharpening the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
