The UN warns that the Gaza Strip will be completely without electricity in a few days. About 2.3 million people live in the de jure Palestinian territory, de facto occupied and besieged by Israel. On October 7, armed clashes began between the forces of Hamas and the Israeli army. After a rocket was launched from Gaza, Israel began bombing the territory with military aviation. Israel has also cut off the supply of electricity, fuel and other goods to Gaza. Gaza region buys 120 MW of electricity per day from Israel. The only power plant in the area produces 60 MW of electricity per day. The station is shutting down due to running out of fuel. The blackout is said to endanger the lives of many civilians in Gaza. According to the United Nations, the Israeli Air Force is bombing Hamas targets in Gaza, as well as residential areas. So far, four high-rise residential complexes in the area have been destroyed. 159 buildings were destroyed, 1210 were seriously damaged. The UN Food Agency reported that it has become difficult to deliver food products to Gaza. "Following the intensification of the conflict, it is increasingly difficult to deliver basic food products to representatives of the civilian population, including children and needy families. The distribution system has been derailed, as a result of hostilities, the food production sector has suffered serious losses," the agency said in a statement. According to the UN, 123,000 Palestinians were forced to leave their homes in recent days due to the escalation of the military conflict in Gaza. The besieged Gaza economy is dependent on Israel and Egypt and international humanitarian aid. Goods are brought to the region by land through these two countries. After the Oslo agreement, a port was built in the area. But in 2000, Israel destroyed the port under construction after two soldiers were killed. The airport opened in Gaza in 1998 was also blown up in 2001. After the victory of the Hamas movement in the local elections, Israel intensified the siege.
