At least 11,000 civilians have been killed and 21,000 injured across Ukraine since February 24, 2022. According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, at least 174 civilians were killed and 690 injured in May. This is the highest number of civilian casualties in a single month since June 2023. More than half of the victims are from Kharkiv region. Civilians remaining in Kharkiv's border and frontline areas are in difficult conditions. Most of them do not have food, medical care, electricity and gas.
