The Taliban cut off the internet in Afghanistan

In Mazari Sharif, Afghanistan, Taliban officials shut down Wi-Fi services and shut down fiber-optic internet nationwide. Afghontelecom and other providers have disconnected the cable internet, but mobile networks continue to work.

According to local sources, this decision was interpreted as a “prevention of immorality” by the commission of Taliban leader Haibatullah Okhundzoda. Experts point out that the limitation of the Internet negatively affects trade, education and quality of life in cities.
