Sadyr Zhaparov sent an appeal to Kyrgyzstanis in memory of those killed during the armed conflicts on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. This is reported by the press service of the head of state.

Two years ago, on April 28, 2021, one of the largest and bloodiest conflicts with the use of weapons broke out on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. Clashes between border guards and the local population began due to the fact that the Tajik side tried to install surveillance cameras near the Head water distribution point in the village of Kok-Tash in the Batken district. The parties first threw stones at each other, and later used firearms. Massive shelling by mortars, machine guns and submachine guns at the water intake began from Tajikistan... As a result, 36 people were killed, 168 injured, 24 local residents were disabled, 44 children were left without parents, 120 houses and 84 social facilities were destroyed.

On the morning of September 16, 2022, shooting began at several sites on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Settlements in the Leilek and Batken districts came under fire. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages of Batken and Leilek districts, villages left their homes Jekendi of Chon-Alai district of Osh region. 198 people were injured, 62 were killed. An emergency mode was introduced in the Batken region.

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic has opened a criminal case under the article "Crimes against peace" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The President of the country recalled the tragedy today. He stressed that in April 2021, then in September last year, Kyrgyzstan experienced severe trials in its modern history.

"Every Kyrgyzstani with a heavy heart and deep sorrow perceived the tragic events that occurred twice on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The descendants of Manas the Magnanimous, brave servicemen and brave sons of our people have shown unprecedented courage in defending the integrity of the state and the independence of the country. Unfortunately, we suffered irreparable losses in these tragic events, 99 of our compatriots were killed and 477 citizens were injured in various ways and are still being treated. The time will come when many articles, stories and fiction books will be written about the feat of the sons of the people in defending the borders of the Motherland, when documentaries about the events of the past will be filmed in front of the future generation. The courage and patriotism of our fighters who defended their homeland, shedding blood and sparing no lives, will be glorified from generation to generation and will forever remain in the memory of our people," Sadyr Zhaparov said.

He noted that as a result of the universal support of the people and the state, the residential houses of citizens that burned down in April 2021 were fully restored and put into operation. Houses were also built in a timely manner for the families of our compatriots who died during the clashes.

"In order to eliminate the consequences of the conflict, I issued decrees on September 17 last year "On priority measures for the restoration and development of administrative-territorial units of the Batken and Osh regions", and then on October 10, 2022 "On additional measures for the restoration of certain settlements of the Batken district of the Batken region affected by the armed conflict in the Batken region, which occurred on September 14-17, 2022." According to these documents, 1 billion 386 million 670 thousand soms were allocated from the state budget for the restoration of destroyed homes of citizens. Of the 418 destroyed houses, 381 have been completed, while construction works are underway in others. In addition, the affected citizens have written off debts to credit organizations for 31 million soms, the terms of loan agreements for 63 million have been eased. Compensation was paid to the families of those killed in the defense of the Motherland, as well as to citizens injured during the conflict by the State. Targeted assistance measures in this direction will continue in the future," the text says.

The Head of State recalled that after the first conflict, urgent measures were taken to strengthen border security. For the first time in the history of the republic, modern military equipment and other necessary equipment for our Armed Forces were purchased at the expense of the republican budget.

"As a result, during the second collision, a worthy rebuff was given, thanks to which it was possible to avoid large casualties. We will continue to work on strengthening border security, providing our servicemen with the necessary equipment and equipment," Sadyr Zhaparov said.

As part of these measures, the monthly salaries of military personnel and internal affairs officers have been significantly increased, especially those who carry out difficult service in the Batken region.

The President promised that the authorities would do everything in their power to prevent the recurrence of such events, to ensure the well-being of the people and the integrity of the country.
