The State Tax Service opened 268 criminal cases on tax evasion

In the first half of this year, the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy opened 268 criminal cases on tax evasion.

According to the information, a total of preliminary investigations in 80 criminal cases have been completed, proceedings in 42 criminal cases have been terminated, 38 criminal cases have been sent to court with charges against 47 people, and a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been chosen for 2 persons.

Due to the fact that in 18 out of 42 criminal cases, the investigation of which was completed, taxpayers paid taxes in full during the preliminary investigation, in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure, appropriate decisions were made. Taking into account payments for previous years on these criminal cases, funds in the amount of 3 million 551.8 thousand manats were paid to the state budget. Within 6 months, compensation for damage to the budget in the amount of 21 million 288.5 thousand manats was provided.

During the reporting period, 199 control measures were carried out for 100 taxpayers operating in various areas, including import, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, public catering, 163 shortcomings were identified for 76 taxpayers. As a result of operational tax control measures, financial sanctions totaling 1 million 150.3 thousand manats were introduced.
