According to court documents and French media, the password to access the museum's surveillance cameras was "Louvre." The result was what has been dubbed the "heist of the century." The simplicity of the password has also been the subject of criticism and ridicule on social media. In the incident, two individuals entered the Apollo Gallery and stole €88 million. The footage from the cameras during the robbery was unclear and insufficient. Seven people were arrested during the investigation. According to the Paris prosecutor general, the perpetrators of the robbery were not a professional criminal group, but ordinary criminals. They were inside the museum for only four minutes and fled at 09:38 on two scooters waiting outside. The criminals then got into a car.
