An official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry claims that Moldova is only formally proclaiming “multicultural diversity” in the country.

Moscow regards the exclusion of a group of scientists from Moldova as an openly hostile step towards Russia and the CIS countries.

This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.

“Official Chisinau continues to destroy relations with its long-standing partners, impeding the development of humanitarian ties in the CIS,” she noted.

According to her, such actions do not find support among the overwhelming majority of the country's citizens, who are friendly towards Russia and speak Russian well.

“In this regard, we call on official Chisinau to stop destroying the interethnic harmony that has been formed over centuries in the republic, to respect at least its own citizens and not to create obstacles for them in maintaining interpersonal contacts,” Zakharova stated.

The Russian diplomat claims that Moldova is only formally proclaiming “multicultural diversity” in the country.

“In fact, it is instilling in the republic anti-Russian sentiments and a Western trend bordering on racism towards the abolition of everything Russian,” concluded the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Scientists from Tajikistan were detained at Chisinau airport

Earlier, Tajik scientists were detained at Chisinau airport. This was reported to RIA Novosti by a member of a group traveling to Moldova for a conference on the Russian language.

It is noted that along with the Tajiks, there are also scientists from Russia and Central Asian countries at the Moldovan air harbor.

According to a group member, everyone has the necessary documents to enter Moldova.

The scientist noted that at the conference he and his colleagues planned to present a report on the role of the Russian language in the formation of interethnic harmony.

Employees of the Moldovan airport provided scientists with documents stating that the reason for the detentions was “failure to fulfill other conditions established by the Moldovan authorities for the entry of foreigners into the republic.”
