The returned property of Gulnara Karimova will be directed to the survival of babies

Confiscated assets of Gulnara Karimova will be used to reduce maternal and child mortality. This was reported by the press service of the UN representative office in the country.

According to him, Uzbekistan Vision 2030 - "Ishanch" fund to support the new project of the United Nations Organization aimed at significantly reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths in Uzbekistan 43 announced that it will allocate funds in the amount of 5 million US dollars. One of the main goals of the new project is to increase the survival rate of low birth weight babies from the current 75 percent to 90 percent.

Uzbekistan Vision 2030 - "Trust" fund is capitalized by contributions in accordance with the agreement between the Swiss Confederation and Uzbekistan on the procedure for the return of illegally acquired assets confiscated in Switzerland for the benefit of the population of Uzbekistan. Represents the return of assets that have been absolutely confiscated in a criminal proceeding in Switzerland.

Administered by the United Nations Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office, this fund supports the Government of Uzbekistan's national reform agenda and projects aimed at accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through principled, transparent and effective asset returns.
