The profile committee heard information about the activities of the Ambassador to Germany Omurbek Tekebaev

The Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration heard information about the activities of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Germany for 2022 and the first half of 2023. The information was presented by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Germany Omurbek Tekebaev. Thus, he dwelled on the main directions of development of bilateral relations. “For the period from 2022 to the first half of 2023, the activities of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Germany were aimed at expanding Kyrgyz-German cooperation in all aspects of relations, as well as protecting the rights of Kyrgyzstanis located on the territory of Germany,” the ambassador said.

Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, Omurbek Tekebayev noted the increase in trade between the two countries over the past year, which amounted to 180 million US dollars. “Work was carried out to increase exports from the Kyrgyz Republic to Germany, negotiations with German companies in order to involve them in launching activities in the Kyrgyz Republic or joint work with Kyrgyz companies,” he said.

After listening to the speaker, the committee members focused on a number of issues. In particular, the deputies noted the importance of strengthening the activities of the embassy to strengthen the legal basis of the Kyrgyz people in Germany, to promote issues of their employment. To which Omurbek Tekebaev informed that within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Federal Employment Agency of Germany, work is actively underway to attract Kyrgyz youth to study at three-year secondary technical educational institutions in Germany.

The deputies also raised issues of attracting investments, implementing investment projects in various fields, and developing the institution of honorary consuls. Attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the fields of education and science, financial and technical, and tourism industries.
