The procedure for calculating alimony in Uzbekistan may change.

Uzbekistan may shift to a system where alimony is calculated based on the child's age and needs, rather than the parent's monthly income. This was announced by Dilnoza Kattakhonova, Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women.
According to her, some parents conceal their actual income and take on low-paying jobs on paper to reduce alimony payments. Consequently, it is proposed to establish a minimum consumer basket for each age group and calculate alimony based on that standard.
There is also a proposal to transfer certain functions related to alimony collection from the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement to the private sector.
Under current regulations, alimony is collected at a rate of 25% of wages for one child, one-third for two children, and half for three or more children.
According to data from the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement, 61% of alimony payers are unemployed or lack a steady source of income.
