The president pointed out the possibilities for the development of Samarkand and gave the task to the mutassaddi

Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Samarkand region and the main tasks that should be carried out by the end of the year, the press service of the president reported.

It is noted that in recent years the province has been developing consistently. But this is not proportional in all districts. For example, about half of the industry of the region falls on the city of Samarkand. Over the past seven months, the province has acquired $ 600 million in foreign direct investment. But 78% of them belonged to the city of Samarkand, the districts of Cuttackurghan, lower Dargam and Samarkand. Electricity consumption has increased 1.5 times in the last five years. In agriculture, productivity, water savings are not enough.

From similar analyzes, the president pointed out opportunities in the fields of entrepreneurship, investment, industry, tourism. The need to support entrepreneurship and agriculture in the neighborhoods, increase the production of grapes and pistachios, make the population working in the field of services on the banks of lush roads was emphasized.

170 billion was allocated in the same year to provide infrastructure to 15 districts of the Urgut free economic zone and 106 industrial zones in the region. But 620 hectares of land are vacant in them. The officials were instructed to solve the infrastructure problem and attract entrepreneurs to these areas.

The task was to upgrade substations in oqdarya and lower Dargam, to launch 2 solar power plants with a capacity of 250 megawatts in Kattakurgan district and Samarkand City by the end of the year. It was noted that the region has the potential to create 20,000 permanent jobs in the tourism sector and bring exports to $ 500 million. It was emphasized that it is necessary to increase attractive programs, make roads and public transport convenient. In 100 neighborhoods and villages with high tourism potential, a directive was issued to open new travel addresses under the “tourism mortgage” program.

“Our people are waiting for the execution of the very big tasks that we have set. No one will come from abroad to do this if they do not take the opportunity in each governor's territory correctly, extract products and create jobs for people. It is necessary to increase the productivity every year. The remaining four months should be months that will make a solid foundation for the next year,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The meeting was informed about the issues discussed by the governors of the regions and districts, officials of the sphere. With this, the head of State returned to Tashkent, completing his visit to the Samarkand region.
