Emomali Rahmon will visit Ashgabat, where he will take part in the trilateral summit of the heads of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which is scheduled for early August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.
The preparations for the summit were discussed the day before during a videoconference by the foreign ministers of these three countries: Sirojidin Muhriddin from Tajikistan, Rashid Meredov from Turkmenistan and Bakhtiyor Saidov from Uzbekistan.
It is noted that the foreign ministers discussed important issues related to the summit: the draft program of the event, the agenda and the draft final document of the meeting of the presidents.
An important aspect of the discussion was regional cooperation, and the participants exchanged views on priority areas for the development of the region, the report says.
It is expected that the upcoming summit will allow discussing topical issues of cooperation and development of the region, as well as ways to strengthen peaceful relations and stability in Central Asia.
