Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the international community to cases of insulting Islam by burning the Koran in a number of Western countries

Manifestations of causing division, racial and religious hostility with awareness of their negative consequences are unacceptable.

This was stated by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during his speech at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

According to him, such provocative actions in most cases underlie intolerance and mistrust and lead to disagreements and conflicts between civilizations.

“In this sense, Tajikistan condemns any insults to the sacred precepts of the beliefs of peoples, including the Holy Quran or other civilizational and religious values of humanity,” the head of state said.

He emphasized that the republic, as a co-author of the General Assembly resolution “Development of intercultural dialogue and tolerance as opposed to intolerance,” draws attention to the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding between civilizations in the process of strengthening peace.

In addition, Rahmon noted that promoting the ideas of tolerance, peace and friendship is the best way to resist provocations, division, fanaticism, violence and extremism.

Rahmon called on the Central Asian countries to unite around the Afghan problem

Let us remind you that the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon is in the United States of America to take part in the “5+1” or “Central Asia and the USA” summit, as well as in a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
