A meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at which the strategic risks of realizing the country’s transport and logistics potential were considered.
Heads of government agencies and national companies reported on their work to solve systemic problems in a range of areas, including rail, road, sea and air transportation, and pipeline transport.
The head of state noted the high relevance of developing transit cargo transportation, including along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as well as expanding transport capacity for the export of domestic products. This requires removing infrastructure restrictions and other barriers, improving the quality of transport and logistics services, and improving the tariff setting system.
Particular attention was paid to synchronizing the development of industry, exports and transit potential, introducing modern standards of infrastructure construction, and ensuring a multiplier effect for the economy from the transport and logistics industry.
Based on the results of the consideration, the President gave a number of specific instructions to the Government.
