The head of state entrusted the implementation of this task with the deputy minister of internal affairs — the head of the Department of Public Security Bekmurod Abdullayev, the head of the IV Road Safety Service Olim Saidov, and the chairman of the highway committee under the Ministry of Transport Jamshid Tursunov, together with the regional governors.
He commissioned the draft document to include a three-year program for the construction of "traffic lights without traffic lights" on roads with frequent traffic jams and accidents. This program should be developed with the involvement of foreign specialists.
The meeting noted that more than 2,500 cameras and radars were installed on the roads, as well as a 30% decrease in the number of accidents in the places where the cameras were installed due to the fact that the permissible speed of traffic in cities was reduced from 70 to 60 km/h. With this in mind, the president stressed the need to continue to introduce smart intersections and smart traffic light systems more widely.
