The President has dismissed the head of the Tashkent city police department and prosecutor.

On January 27, at a meeting on ensuring a safe environment and public order, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reprimanded the head of the Tashkent city police department, Ravshan Sultankhodjayev, and prosecutor Anvar Urmonov, and set them on probation for six months.
The head of state criticized the lack of quality in the work of the internal affairs system in the capital, noting that 833 criminal cases were hidden in 2025, high crime rates, and low security in neighborhoods. In some districts, domestic violence, robberies, and murders were observed in large numbers.
The ineffectiveness of the fight against cybercrime was also criticized, with 16,000 cybercrimes occurring in 2025 and citizens suffering 2 trillion soums in damage. The president demanded that those responsible urgently introduce protective systems in banking and payment systems.
Mirziyoyev accused the heads of law enforcement agencies, including the heads of the internal affairs, prosecutor's office, department, security, guard, court, justice, customs and tax authorities, of not being exemplary. It was noted that despite the sufficient opportunity to prevent crimes by working together with city khokimiyats and the mahalla system, there was no result.
