The President gave an order to increase meat imports to 130 thousand tons by the end of the year

At a videoconference meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, issues of strengthening the livestock and feed base in Uzbekistan, stabilizing meat imports, and promptly resolving logistics problems were discussed. It was reported that in the first quarter of 2026, due to logistics disruptions, the import of pedigree cattle decreased by almost 2 times. In order to eliminate the problem, a system of allocating subsidies of up to 4 million soums for each pedigree cattle imported by plane, as well as covering 50 percent of transportation costs for meat imports, was introduced. Those responsible were instructed to ensure the import of 45 thousand tons of meat by the end of the second quarter, and a total of 130 thousand tons by the end of the year. The task was also set to promptly resolve obstacles arising during the transportation process through online monitoring, without waiting for entrepreneurs to appeal. The meeting also critically reviewed the pace of fodder crop cultivation in the regions. In particular, although it is planned to sow fodder crops on an area of ​​​​478 thousand hectares, it became known that sowing has not yet begun on a large part of the land in the Namangan region. It was noted that silage planting is slow in Zarbdor, Kyzyltepa and Pop districts, and that existing opportunities are not being used sufficiently in the Amudarya, Gijduvan, Khanka and Bagdad districts. The regional governors were instructed to eliminate the existing shortcomings in the short term. At the same time, the need to auction another 100 thousand hectares of arable land based on a new system and put them into operation as soon as possible was noted. The issue of developing industrial plantations was also on the agenda of the meeting. The regional leaders were tasked with organizing at least 5 large industrialized fruit and vegetable plantations in an exemplary manner this year.
