“The Odyssey” becomes Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing film

According to Universal Pictures, “The Odyssey” has grossed $1.1 billion worldwide, becoming the biggest commercial success of Christopher Nolan’s career. The film has surpassed the $1.085 billion record set by “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012.

“The Odyssey” is currently the second-highest-grossing R-rated film in history, behind “Deadpool & Wolverine” with $1.33 billion. It has also become the fifth film to surpass the $1 billion mark in 2026.

Released on July 17, “The Odyssey” is based on Homer’s famous epic poem and follows Odysseus on his long and difficult journey home after the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron.

The movie has also received strong reviews from critics, earning a 94% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
