In January-July, 4,772 road accidents were recorded throughout the Republic. According to statistics, 51% of them occurred through the fault of drivers.
During the first 7 months of 2023, Uzbekistan recorded 4,772 traffic accidents. This information was cited by the chairman of the Senate Committee on defense and security Qutbiddin Burhonov in his article in the newspaper “People's word”.
The report stated that of the 4,772 Yth, 2,453, or 51.4 percent, were caused by subjective reasons, i.e. drivers ' disregard for traffic rules.
In nearly 4,800 incidents, 1,115 people died, with 4,564 suffering various bodily injuries.
It was noted that 1,078 or 96.7% of the victims did not wear seat belts.
According to the senator, relying on the data of the Tashkent City IIB, in the last 7 months of this year, 675 YTH were recorded in the capital; 71 people were killed, and 787 people received various bodily injuries. The most common cause of accidents was speeding – 199 cases. In 90 cases, the traffic light's prohibitive gesture was ignored by drivers; 8 YTHS were recorded in the presence of drivers in a drunken state.
Earlier it was known that in the first half of 2023, about 4 thousand auto accidents occurred in the Republic, in which 873 people were killed and more than 3.5 thousand people were injured. This information was disclosed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a speech at one of the meetings.
In comparison, of the 355 Yth recorded in the 1st half of 2022, 784 people were killed and 2,775 injured. Based on the figures from the 1st half of 2023 noted above, in the first 6 months of this year, the number of Yths increased by 11%, and the number of victims in them-by 12%.
Recall that in the draft strategy “Uzbekistan-2030”, which was released for discussion at the end of July, it is envisaged to reduce the number of serious Yths to 1.5 times by 2030. For 2024, however, it was targeted to reduce this to 10 percent.
