The bill proposes amendments to articles 70 and 91 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which provide for an increase in the minimum number of women from thirty percent to forty percent of the total number of candidates when candidates for deputies are nominated by political parties.
On October 31, at the meeting of the Parliament of the Supreme Assembly, the draft law “on amendments to the Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, developed on the basis of the right to legislative initiative, was considered at the first reading.
Articles 70 and 91 of the electoral code are proposed to make amendments that provide for an increase in the minimum number of women from 30% to 40% of the total number of candidates when candidates for deputies are nominated by political parties.
