The number of stateless people in Uzbekistan has been revealed

Most of them are former citizens of the Soviet Union and their descendants.
In Tashkent, there was an analytical report on the issues of statelessness and the presentation of the Uzbek edition of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on citizenship and statelessness for members of parliament. Dunyo reports.

According to the press service of the National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan, the government of Uzbekistan is taking decisive steps to reduce and eliminate statelessness in the country. Since 2014, more than 100,000 people have been found to be stateless in the country, and 83,793 of them have been positively resolved.

As of the first half of 2023, 25,413 stateless persons live in Uzbekistan. This is the largest indicator among the countries of the Central Asian region, and most of these people are former citizens of the Soviet Union and their descendants.
