The number of seized drugs has jumped in Tajikistan

In the first half of 2023, law enforcement officers detected and seized narcotic drugs by 45% more than in the same period last year

The number of confiscated narcotic substances has increased in Tajikistan.

This was announced by a representative of the Drug Control Agency at the reporting press conference.

So, according to the agency, in the first half of 2023, security forces seized 366 kg of narcotic substances. This figure is 115 kg or 45% more than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of crimes themselves in this area has become noticeably smaller.

During the reporting period, the Agency revealed 69 crimes, while last year 82 were recorded.

At the beginning of summer, a meeting was held in Dushanbe to control and coordinate the implementation of Operation Poppy 2023.

As part of the event, those present discussed the identification and disposal of narcotic plants, including wild and illegally planted ones.

The participants of the meeting adopted a plan for the possible blocking of the ways of illegal transportation of drugs and measures to prevent crimes in this area.
