The number of pensioners in Uzbekistan with less than 50 dollars was reported

According to the Pension Fund, the pension of 652,900 pensioners in the republic is less than 50 dollars. As of July 1, 2023, there are 401,900 pensioners with the highest (calculated) salary, and 652,900 pensioners with the lowest amount. The minimum amounts of pensions and allowances are in accordance with the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan No. PF-45 of March 28, 2023 "On increasing the amount of wages, pensions and allowances" and the Decree of July 28, 2023 "On financial support for the population in need of social protection" in accordance with the decree No. PF-120 "On additional measures for support", the fund informed. The Statistics Agency reported that the minimum consumption expenditure calculated for 2023 in Uzbekistan will be 568,000 soums ($47) per person per month. This means that the minimum amount of pension received by 652,900 citizens disclosed above is not even 50 dollars. For information, in world experience, it is common to use the minimum consumption expenditure indicator as a poverty line. In 2022, the minimum cost of consumption in the republic was set at 498,000 soums. In 2021, this figure was 440,000 soums. As of July 1, 2023, the total number of pensioners and pensioners from the Pension Fund is 4 million 470 thousand 29 people. 3 million 854 thousand 614 pensioners and 615 thousand 415 pensioners are among them. Newly appointed pensions and allowances in January and June of this year: recipients of old-age pension - 121,620 people; disability pension recipients - 15,326; bereavement pension recipients - 9,255 families; and allowances - 55,015.
