Minister of foreign affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Saidov received a copy of the credentials from the new ambassador of Turkmenistan Shadurdi Meredov. This was reported by the minister through his channel in Telegram.

“We have witnessed an unprecedented expansion of our relations in recent years. The progress made is complete, and even more so is still ahead. We wish the ambassador success throughout his work in our country,” Bakhtiyar Saidov wrote.

In early August, it was reported that Shadurdi Meredov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan.

In mid-July, Turkmenistan's ambassador to Uzbekistan Yazguli Mammedov had been dismissed from his post in connection with his move to another job. Yazguli Mammedov was appointed ambassador to Uzbekistan in July 2018. Prior to that, he served as ambassador of Turkmenistan to Malaysia, Brunei-Dorussalom State, Indonesia and Thailand. Yazguli Mammedov replaced Shiri Shiriyev, who headed Turkmenistan's diplomatic mission in Tashkent in 2012-2018.
