The Netherlands has euthanized a child under the age of 12 for the first time

A child under the age of 12 suffering from a serious and incurable disease has been euthanized in the Netherlands. This was the first case since the changes to the law in 2023.
The country's Health Minister Sophie Hermans said that the procedure was carried out at the end of 2025. However, the child's age, diagnosis and the exact date of the incident were not disclosed.
The Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalize euthanasia in 2002.
