The National” Green " Economy taxonomy will be introduced

Until 2030, the Republic of Uzbekistan provided for the development of a National "Green" taxonomy for the classification of activities of the "green" type in accordance with the action plan for the transition to a "green" economy and ensuring "green" growth (approved by resolution PQ-436 of 02.12.2022). 

The document confirmed the taxonomy of the National "Green" Economy, which provides for the definition of categories of the main directions of the "green" economy, as well as the assessment of compliance criteria based on the classification of activities of the "green" type.

The Ministry of economy and Finance has been designated as the executive body of the Republic responsible for its introduction and coordination.

As of 1 October 2024:

the classification of projects of the" green "type, funded at the expense of" green " bonds and loans, as well as other sources, is carried out experimentally through the taxonomy of the National "Green" Economy;
all entrepreneurial entities that use public financial support, including investment costs of economic associations with private and public participation, are classified on the basis of the National "Green" Economy taxonomy.

For reference: the taxonomy of" green " projects is a system of classification of types of economic activities, projects and assets that promote sustainable development and are aimed at increasing the effective use of natural resources, reducing the level of negative impact on the environment and increasing energy savings.
