Emine Genç, a resident of the Malatya province of Turkey, learned to read and write for the first time in her life at the age of 88. The reason for this was her husband's words: "You can't even write your own name." Genç, who did not study as a child because her father did not send her to school, applied to the district public education department and in just three months learned to read and write and managed to write her name and surname.
