The Drug Control Agency in Tajikistan revealed to the public the most striking cases of smugglers for 6 months of 2023
The largest crimes related to illicit substances were solved in Tajikistan in 2023.
The information was published by the Drug Control Agency in the republic.
The largest was the detention of a Tajik citizen with more than 100 kg of illegal drugs.
The crime was recorded on the territory of the Dangara district of the Khatlon region, the head of the investigative department of the agency Shavkat Kamolzoda shared.
"The smuggler's plans were to transport the indicated amount of drugs from Afghanistan to Kyrgyzstan by prior agreement with his brother," the head of the agency's SU said.
He also added that as a result, the man was sentenced to 20 years in prison, and his property was confiscated.
"Currently, investigative and search work is underway to detain his accomplices," Kamolzoda said.
In addition, in April 2023, a citizen of Tajikistan was also detained for large-scale drug smuggling.
It is noted that he was in collusion with the Afghani and together they decided to transport 50 kg of prohibited substances across the border.
Thus, the drugs were transported across the Afghan-Tajik border and hidden in the Khatlon region, Shavkat Kamolzoda reported.
The cache was discovered as a result of operational-search work by the agency's employees, the head of the SU department stated.
