District Hokim Sherzod Ashurov said that kebab shops in other regions must obtain permission from the District Hokim to sell G'iduvan kebab. However, the Ministry of Justice stated that the state registration of a specific product as a geographical indication does not impose additional obligations on individuals and legal entities.
However, the Ministry of Justice denied this. It was reported that the certificate confirming the right to use this geographical indication, which was the first in the Bukhara region to be registered by the state, gives its owner, that is, Gijduvon district hokimity, the right to use the type of goods indicated in the certificate. The state registration of a specific product as a geographical indication does not impose additional obligations on individuals and legal entities.
According to the Law "On Geographical Indications", if the person who registered the geographical indication, the goods whose specific quality, reputation or other characteristics are significantly dependent on its geographical origin producing, this person gets the right to use this geographical indication. The right to use the registered geographical indication can be granted to another legal entity or individual who is located in the same geographical location and produces goods with similar characteristics.
