The meeting of transport ministers of Central Asian countries is being held for the first time within the framework of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region
Tajikistan plans to attract $6.3 billion to implement projects in the transport sector.
This was stated by the Minister of Transport of the Republic, Azim Ibrohim, at the first meeting of the heads of transport departments of Central Asia, which began in Dushanbe.
“New projects will contribute to a significant change in the pattern and structure of international cargo flows, the efficiency of integration and economic growth,” noted Azim Ibrohim.
According to him, active work is underway to effectively use the Tajikistan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Turkey - Europe corridor, which will be the shortest route from the Chinese border through Central Asia to Europe.
“This corridor contributes to the revival of the Great Silk Road and regional economic integration,” he emphasized.
The minister also proposed developing and adopting a “unified transport strategy” for the countries of the region.
Thus, a meeting of the heads of the ministries of transport of the countries of the Central Asian region is being held for the first time within the framework of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which will take place on September 14-15.

The meeting chaired by Azim Ibrokhim is attended by the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev, Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov, and Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakyev.
